Rooted
This is one of my most favorite yoga asanas of all time. Why? Because it really challenges me to quiet my mind while my body is still. The essence of yoga is to try to free the mind of nonsense and chatter.
In our competitive society – we are always on the go. There is always something more to accomplish, or do better or fight for, or work on.
Vrksasana teaches us that only when we are firmly grounded – do we actually rise. Only when you are fully balanced and energized in your standing leg, can you lift up your other leg off the floor. Only when you activate your core, and relax your shoulders will you be able to lift your arms over your head.
We can apply these same principles off the yoga mat. When you have had time to quietly think for a bit about a decision, you come to a better one. Taking deep breaths and relaxing yourself before giving a presentation, helps you perform better. I could go on and on..
So moral of the story: Take time out and ground yourself – your actions will be more substantial after 🙂 (Or just stay in Tree for a few breaths each day to relax 🙂 )
Thanks so much for reading!
